The Night Crash Took The Statuette Away...

Woohoo...!!!! 'Crash' just won Best Picture at Oscar last Sunday. It was a shocking surprise, i mean nobody even expected that independent low-budget film to win the most prestigious award of the night. Crazy! Nggak sia-sia gw bolos skolah buat ntn Oscar di rumah. Hohohoho...

You know what, to be honest, i've watched 'Brokeback Mountain' and i have to tell you that 'Brokeback' is a great movie. Splendid. Well-acted, well-directed. But at some points in the movie, i just felt too sleepy and couldn't hold my eyelids to stay open and it took a lot of concentration to digest some conversations on some scenes of the movie. A little bit boring, i might say. But still, 'Brokeback' is a phenomenon. Very brave. Superb.

But 'Crash'? Emang 'Crash' udah lamaaa bgt dirilis (Mei 2005), dan gaungnya udah nggak kedengeran lg di mana-mana. Tp berbarengan dengan diluncurkannya DVD original film ini, masyarakat US mulai mencoba menonton ulang dan mencerna kembali maksud dari film itu, termasuk anggota AMPAS. And, voila!, they liked it.

'Brokeback' is an action-driven movie with less number of characters. Otherwise, 'Crash' is a character-driven movie with great number of casts (an ensemble). Paul Haggis definitely has officially become one of my favorite screenwriters and directors ever.
